Frequent questions

Q. I have my own designs and am looking to get these manufactured in China, Can you provide this service?

A. Yes, we offer OEM on most products. To prototype your design we use processes and services such as design consultation, CAD, material sourcing, mold production, and expert fabricators.

Q. It’s my first time importing, how can I buy from your company?

A. Its simple, the term for purchasing goods outside your country is called ‘IMPORTING’. To begin importing you have a registered company in your country. We recommend you are tax registered in your country, for example VAT, this help you claim/off set your tax when importing.

You will require a shipping agent to get the goods delivered to your country. The shipping agent is a third party who will arrange to; either collects the goods from our factory, or from the shipping port in China. The agent will also arrange all documentation required to clear the goods through the Chinese and your country customs and excise

Once our factory complete your order, you will send email us your shipping agents details, we will then directly communicate with your shipping agent, there’s nothing more you will need to be involved in until the goods arrive into your country.

Once goods arrive into your country, your shipping agent will contact you to arrange a suitable date you can receive the goods into your warehouse.

We can also recommend international shipping agents who deal with the likes of IKEA and have offices in almost all countries around the globe.

Q. You have sent me a FOB price list, what does this mean?

A. F.O.B stands for "free on board". Describes a price, which includes goods plus the services of loading those goods onto a freight container and delivered to our local port. This evolves paper work and labor costs on our side, so usually the price is a few percent higher. At the point of the goods arriving to the local port, your shipping agent shall take over.

Q. What does ex works mean?

A. We base prices by Ex-Works or otherwise know as Ex-Factory, this requires your shipping agent to arrange loading, and delivery of goods from our warehouse rather than the Chinese port. Costs are usually a few percent lower in this case.

Q. What is a Bill of lading?

A. Bill Of Lading, also known as BOL, B/L, Waybill. This is a document used as evidence that a transport company or carrier received goods from a shipper. This contract indicates the shipping method and terms for getting the merchandise to its final destination.

Usually after you have arranged payment, our Modbom office will arrange the B/L along with the packing slip, and commercial invoice copy to be sent to your shipping agent. Upon receipt of these documents your shipping agent will be able to release the goods from your local port and delivered into your warehouse.

Q. If I import your furniture, is there a lot of tax to pay on furniture?

A. Generally you must pay your local sales tax or VAT, and customs duty. Many European governments do not charge customs duty on furniture imports (duty free), however, we advise you to contact your local tax office, or shipping agent you can guide you.

Q. You have many products available in aniline leather, and other leather with different pricing. What’s the difference?

A. Firstly all our leather is imported from Italy, China simply does not have enough local leather hide due to the massive volume of international export.

Here’s a brief introduction on different types of leather we offer;

Full Aniline Leather

Naturally finished leather, also referred to as “full-aniline,” is the most supple and sumptuous type of leather on the market. Naturally finished leather undergoes the least amount of processing, leaving its natural character intact. Although it shouldn’t be placed in a location with direct sunlight, naturally finished leather only requires normal care and maintenance
